Rachael Meny has been selected among the Women Leaders in Tech Law Litigation at the 2024 California Legal Awards. Meny is one of the country’s leading authorities litigating and investigating trade secret, employee mobility, and other IP-related disputes. She has successfully represented leading companies such as Meta, Waymo, Lyft, Instacart and Google in high-profile legal battles that have solidified her position as a trailblazer in tech litigation.

In an interview with The Recorder, Meny discussed her recent professional achievements. Over the past year, she has addressed more employee mobility and trade secret disputes, driven by changes in U.S. noncompete laws. She successfully guided clients through these complex issues, serving as lead counsel when required, but often resolving these matters before litigation became necessary.

For women starting in tech law, Meny advises that they focus on understanding their clients’ business and building connections with lawyers they resonate with. She emphasized that strong relationships make work more enjoyable for all involved. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of networks and said groups like the professional organization ChIPs and relationships with fellow female lawyers create pipelines for women’s advancement in the field.
