Keker, Van Nest & Peters has expanded its white-collar litigation team by welcoming back Andrew Dawson, a former first-chair federal prosecutor, as a partner in its San Francisco office, as reported by Law360.
Dawson, who previously worked at the firm, spent nearly 10 years as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Northern District of California, handling a wide range of cases, including white-collar crimes, intellectual property, corporate fraud, and cyberintrusions. After recently concluding several cases, Dawson decided it was the right time to return to private practice and rejoin Keker, Van Nest & Peters, where he had close connections and a high regard for the firm's trial lawyers.
"It felt like the right time to move back to private practice, which I'd always had on my mind," Dawson said. "I'd been at KVP before I went to the government. I have a ton of friends here. They're the best trial lawyers I've ever worked with. I knew going out of government this would be the place I would want to go back. I was thrilled when I reached out to the firm and they were interested. It's felt like a wonderful kind of homecoming to be able to be back at this wonderful group of people."
Keker’s managing partner, Laurie Carr Mims, praised Dawson’s extensive courtroom experience and expertise, aligning with the firm’s commitment to excellence in white-collar defense and civil litigation.
Dawson’s legal journey includes clerking for U.S. Circuit Judge William A. Fletcher of the Ninth Circuit and U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer of the Northern District of California. He served as a KVP associate for a year before clerking for Associate Justice Stephen G. Breyer of the U.S. Supreme Court. Dawson returned to Keker from 2012-2015 before moving on to serve in several prominent roles within the U.S. Attorney's Office.
