Ashok Ramani Elected to Asian law Caucus Board of Directors

11/15/2012

Members of the Asian Law Caucus have elected Keker & Van Nest Partner Ashok Ramani to its Board of Directors for 2013.

Founded in 1972, The Asian Law Caucus is the nation’s first legal and civil rights organization serving the low-income Asian Pacific American communities. The ALC focuses on housing rights, immigration and immigrants’ rights, labor and employment issues, student advocacy, civil rights and hate violence, national security, and criminal justice reform. As a founding affiliate of the Asian American Center for Advancing Justice, ALC also helps to set national policies in affirmative action, voting rights, Census, and language rights.

Since the vast majority of Asians and Pacific Islanders in America are immigrants and refugees, the Caucus strives to create informed and educated communities empowered to assert their rights and to participate actively in American society. This perspective is reflected in our broad strategy which integrates the provision of legal services, educational programs, community organizing initiatives and advocacy.

About Ashok Ramani

Mr. Ramani focuses his practice on patent and trade-secret matters. He has represented clients in federal and state courts as well as before the US International Trade Commission in Section 337 investigations. Mr. Ramani's notable results include securing two nine-figure settlements (one of which followed a successful ten-week jury trial), obtaining preliminary injunctions against former employees on trade secret misappropriation claims, and achieving mid-trial voluntary dismissal by the plaintiff (with Mr. Ramani's clients and the other defendant paying nothing).
