Our program this year, “Real Claims—Hard Lessons,” will focus on three new recent ALAS claims: one arising out of a drafting error in an earn-out provision formula included in a corporate transaction; another stemming from problems in documenting and handling a small internal investigation of alleged accounting fraud; and a third, concerning a blown litigation deadline that resulted from a calendaring error, which led the firm to file a $65 million audit malpractice suit one month late. Each of these matters teaches valuable loss prevention lessons. The meeting will include a brief report from ALAS on recent claims trends, company financial results for 2014, and loss prevention initiatives.
