The Daily Journal has named Keker & Van Nest partners Robert Van Nest and David Silbert to its 2011 list of Top 75 Intellectual Property Litigators in California.
Name partner Robert Van Nest was recognized for his work representing Taiwanese mobile-device company HTC Corp., which produces the Google-powered Android phone, in its legal battles with iPhone maker Apple, Inc. The publication also highlighted Mr. Van Nest’s work representing Electronic Arts, Broadcom, Intel and Medtronic. This is Mr. Van Nest’s third appearance on the list.
David Silbert was recognized for his ability to make “complex patent cases come to life in the courtroom.” Citing one example, Mr. Silbert described using a huge water tank to illustrate to a jury the movement of thermal waves. He was also recognized for his work defending Twitter against an individual who procured a patent on “creating an interactive virtual community of famous people.” This is Mr. Silbert’s first appearance on the list.
