The Daily Journal has named Keker, Van Nest & Peters partners Christa Anderson and Bob Van Nest among its list of top intellectual property lawyers in California.
Ms. Anderson was featured for her work representing Google against patent infringement claims related to noise-cancelling technology for earphones, smartphones, and smart home devices; for defending Facebook and Instagram in a five-patent suit related to the companies’ live streaming technology; and her work representing DexCom in patent litigation against Abbott Diabetes Care over technology related to glucose monitoring systems.
Mr. Van Nest was featured for his work defeating one of the largest consumer class actions ever filed, a $5 billion antitrust lawsuit against Qualcomm, in which the Ninth Circuit ruled that California's choice of law rules precluded the district court's certification of the nationwide class. He also represented Google in its Supreme Court victory against Oracle, which put an end to a decade of litigation when the court ruled Google’s use of the programming language in its Android operating system is fair use.
