Patent Disputes 2012: Patent Reform and New Models for a New Market

11/14/2012

This conference brings together a distinguished faculty of the foremost patent attorneys and in-house counsel in the country who will share their knowledge, experience and insight. Topics will include best practices in a patent trial from the judge's and the bar's perspective.

Panels will cover perspectives from both in-house counsel and law firms and discuss working through a patent litigation – what works, what doesn’t work and the challenges on both sides.  Attendees will hear from the top patent litigators and in-house counsel on how they would like to improve the process of litigating patent disputes.

Keker & Van Nest partner Gene Paige will speak on the "Best Practices for Litigating and Managing Disputes Under AIA" panel, which will cover new developments, multi-defendant suits, derivation proceedings, reexamination and prior use rights.

Keker & Van Nest partner Christa Anderson will offer her insights on the "Creative Strategies for Solving Legal Issues with a Business Perspective" panel.

About the Speakers

Gene Paige focuses his practice on complex civil litigation. He successfully defends clients from infringement claims, and prosecutes cases on behalf of innovators who have had the fruits of their labor misappropriated. Mr. Paige has tried nearly a dozen criminal and civil cases in state and federal courts, serving as first chair in the majority of those cases. He has litigated cases that involve cutting-edge technology such as semiconductor fabrication process technology, the co-expression of recombinant DNA, and the use of innovative methods of conducting business online. He enjoys learning about diverse subject matter areas and industries, and then constructing a winning strategy that will serve both the client’s legal needs and its business objectives.

Christa Anderson handles complex and high-stakes business litigation for some of the country’s top corporations, including Intel, American Honda, Broadcom, Sutter Health and Google. She has extensive experience in the areas of intellectual property (patent, copyright and trademark), breach of contract, antitrust, business torts and class actions. Ms. Anderson has litigated, mediated and tried cases in federal court; as well as California, Texas, Virginia, and Washington state courts.
